I had a great experience at the 99 in Charlestown. The staff were friendly and attentive from the moment I walked in, and the atmosphere was warm and comfortable—perfect for a casual night out. I ordered the prime rib with a baked potato and broccoli, and it was excellent. The prime rib was tender, flavorful, and cooked just the way I like it. The baked potato was perfectly fluffy with a crisp skin, and the broccoli was fresh with a nice bite. Everything came out hot and plated nicely, and the portions were generous without being over the top. Service was timely, and the team checked in just enough without hovering. The food was pretty decent however i have some MAJOR issues with how service went…. First of all, the host attempted to seat me, a party of one, directly across from a table of 5 with seats empty at both the bar and other places in the restaurant. As anyone who has ever been eating alone knows, this is an extremely awkward situation. Luckily, the server i got was extremely accommodating and kind, so this post in more towards the efficiency of the restaurant. I ended up moving seats and everything was decently smooth until the soup came out before the drink, the drink was entirely too sweet (love potion 99), and they brought me a chicken bowl instead of a shrimp. I have been pescatarian for 7 years now so this was nearly unappetising. The attached picture is of the shrimp bowl when it did arrive. The good news? The shrimp was well seasoned, rice well-cooked, and instructions for no feta were followed. I got a Yankee pot roast steak and it was not fresh at all. The vegetables, carrots, mushrooms, etc., were definitely from off-the-shelf cans. The steak and its viscous gravy were so fake. I would not recommend their food at all. I liked the chocolate cake though, the combination of the moist cake and vanilla ice cream was great. For a chain restaurant pub type place, 99's are great. I also appreciate how they consistently have solid vegetarian (and even vegan) options is why I'm giving them a 4 star - it's an outperform for it's class in this regard, ex: lightly fried tempura-style cauliflower with a spicy Sriracha ranch sauce 🎉 At this location, really chill, friendly and efficient service, I'll be back!
